Free Courses

Recovery in Mind is on a mission to improve the lives of adults living in West Berkshire with mental health challenges by delivering free of charge, inspiring and empowering  courses.   We help people to take back control of their lives, find hope and to make the most of life’s opportunities whilst working out their own goals and aspirations and how to work towards them.  We believe that both people who have lived experience of mental health challenges and those who are professionally qualified in the field of mental health share the important role of course trainers.  In fact, our peer trainers are people who started out on their journey with Recovery in Mind as students.   Come & experience our courses for yourself by starting out by attending a ‘Introduction to Recovery’ Bitesize session.  We look forward to meeting you soon.

“Attending the Welcome To Recovery course has been absolutely life changing for me – it has been a joy to attend and has been something that I looked forward to every week. After my crises I had got better with medication and therapy, however I realised I was stuck, I was just functioning, my world had got very small and I still was scared of going downhill again and felt isolated. I knew there must be more I could do but didn’t know what, or how, or have the confidence to make changes. Attending the group each week, working through the tasks, discussing and sharing information, listening (and laughing!) has given me the confidence that I can manage my mental health. From a male perspective it has opened my eyes to so many things I probably would not have come across normally, from hope and self-care to mindfulness and personal responsibility, I learn’t that recovery covers lots of different areas that come together and help you grow – it has given me a new perspective on life and where to find happiness, joy and contentment. If you are a male or female struggling with any area of your mental health I can’t recommend this enough, it helped blow away any shame or stigma I felt about dealing with my own mental health and recovery. Coming together and connecting with others who have been through similar experiences has been liberating, not having to pretend to be ok and knowing that people have experienced the same challenges but are also moving forwards has been great and I have learnt how powerful community and connectedness are for recovery. I really can’t thank the team enough, everyone was amazing, it really has given me a whole new energy to get back into my life again and start living it!
