Course Protocol

Recovery in Mind (RiM) response to CV19

RIM will follow actions which choose the most effective and efficient methods to prevent exposure and infection from COVID 19. Social distancing will be stringently adhered to during courses and maintaining a distance of more than 1m apart should eliminate chances of infection.

Ensuring staff & students are not in RiM sessions when ill, is essential to reducing risk of transmission of CV19. Please DO NOT attend courses if you have any symptoms at all, but phone in to explain your absence.  Confirmed cases of CV 19 should be notified to the RiM team and ‘Track and Trace’ will be implemented.  Steps to support social distancing and good hygiene need a collective approach from all participants please.

Marked areas combined with physical barriers may be used for our venues, especially with clear signage to match.  Please observe these.  Working outdoors is deemed better as good ventilation can assist in diluting virus particles in the air & reduce risks, so this will be adopted where possible.  Venues have been assessed as providing adequate ventilation but avoiding recycling air-con unit use whilst allowing for socially distanced working.

Enhanced cleaning will be undertaken to high standards in the venues we use (stair rails, toilets etc). Maintenance of high levels of personal hygiene (washing hands regularly for 20 seconds) will be required by all before entering or leaving premises for courses.  One person to use toilet facilities at any one time and hands should be washed before and after using the facilities.  For the shorter courses we might recommend using toilets at home in preference to those in venues.  Hand sanitiser will be provided where hand washing facilities are unavailable.

Using a home-made or self-provided face covering, mask or gloves will be acceptable if people wish to use these in a safe & considerate way with regard to the wellbeing of others and communication.

PPE will only be used in case of emergency by staff but they will carry a supply to all courses for this possible eventuality. This waste would be double wrapped for disposal.

Students should avoid public transport & only use it if there is no choice and travel alone in their own transport if this is available. Use a bicycle if this is feasible or walk if within walking distance. Staff will NOT be offering anybody lifts in their vehicles (Peers or students). We will also discourage students from giving each other lifts in their cars.

Dedicated eating areas will be identified (if necessary) and hand cleaning facilities or hand sanitiser will be available at the entrance of any room where people eat and should be used by everyone when entering and leaving. RIM won’t be providing any refreshments, staff & students to bring pre-prepared food and refillable drinking bottles from home & consume it ‘away’ from the venue or classroom.  All areas used for eating will be thoroughly cleaned at the end of each use.

Staff need to be able to dismiss from sessions to NHS care any identified possible cases of CV19.

If West Berks was to become another area for local lock-down due to a rise in CV19 cases, RiM will cease any course provision until the situation improves and students will be informed of these changes by email.

Our courses have been tailor-made to encompass these ‘new normal’ factors, but we will endeavour to alter them to suit changes if they arise, and will inform students as this happens.
