All our courses are led by both people who have experienced mental health challenges and mental health professionals. We believe that this offers both perspectives – professional knowledge and expertise alongside the shared experience of our Peer trainers who are inspiring, empowering and have ‘worn the t-shirt’.
Recovery in Mind has a number of trainers with professional Occupational Therapy backgrounds. They have individual and group-work experience having worked in the NHS in the past, and they use this to support our students to overcome barriers preventing them from doing the activities that matter to them as individuals. This is empowering and increases students’ independence and satisfaction in life whilst potentially opening up new horizons and offering hope for the future.
Our team of Peer Trainers are an essential part of the Recovery in Mind experience. All of them started out with us as ‘students’ attending our courses to improve their own mental health. They use their ‘lived experience’ by sharing real life experiences of how they manage their challenges, provide inspiration and empower & support our students, who are on their own personal journey, towards improved mental health. They are in attendance at all of our courses and, we hope, you will find them welcoming and supportive. All our courses are designed and developed with the valuable input of our Peer Trainers alongside our mental health professionals.
