We had the perfect weather for our 10th Birthday party held at the Waterside Centre in Newbury down by the canal. Music was provided by the multi-talented Mark who came from Berkshire Music Trust. David and Denise provided us two wonderful birthday cakes and we were also treated to Helen’s amazing pavlova. Flo (my daughter who has shared her childhood and mum with Recovery in Mind) and her two friends, Fern and Grace, came to serve the food and drinks. Most importantly our students came to celebrate not only our 10 years but also their own recovery journeys. As ever the evening felt supportive, reflective and was full of kindness and compassion. The evening drew to a close with us jointly singing ‘Happy Birthday’ twice (Mark felt we could do a better second rendition!) and a few words from me. Thanks finally to the RiM team and directors who worked together to make the event happen. I felt very proud of all that we and all our students have achieved during our 10 years together. Thanks to all our students who travelled from near and far to join the celebrations.
